Championing, Collaborating & Exploring Innovative & Responsible Mining Practices for a greener and more sustainable future.

The 30th Mines Environment & Mineral Conservation Week 2022-23 commenced with a new initiative that involved flagging off all Evaluation teams from Ranavav-Porbandar on 17 December 2022. This year’s MEMC Week also highlighted recent technological advancements in the field of mining, such as drone survey and mine plan approval systems. A total of 75 mines of participating major minerals were nominated, evaluated, and observed during the MEMC week, which took place from 18th December to 27th December 2022. We are honored to announce that M/s Tata Chemicals Limited had the responsibility of organizing the MEMC week and hosting the prize distribution ceremony.

Innovative initiatives were undertaken during the concluding ceremony of the 30th MEMC Week. These included a Flag-Off and Opening ceremony at the beginning of the week and to promote physical and mental well-being, friendly cricket matches were organized with local youth and mining officers. Additionally, the promotion of dishes made from millet was encouraged.

Participating Mines

The participating mines in the 30th MEMC Week 2022-23 are divided into four groups based on their industry and location. The A1 group consists of cement companies located in various places of Gujarat such as Kutch, Bhuj, Porbandar, Surat, Ambujanagar, and Kovaya. The A2 group includes chemical and soda ash mines situated in Porbandar, Veraval, Junagadh, Chorvad, and other regions. The B1 group comprises fully mechanized bauxite mines located in Mevasa, Nandana, Gadhsisa, Virpur, Dhar, and other areas. Lastly, the B2 group includes semi-mechanized bauxite mines located in Naredi, Mahadeviya, Taiyyabpura, and other regions. The participation of these mines in the event highlights the importance of responsible mining practices and promotes sustainable development in the Gujarat mining industry.
